Interview with the vampire
Genuinely the best tv show i've seen in years, if this came out sooner it would've been up there with tumblr's obsessions like supernatural and sherlock but it's so painfully underratedddd i don't get ittt pleasee go watch it
The stories is always being told through another character's lens so it adds sm depth, it leaves you asking what is real, how the character's emotions and trauma is affecting the story and how they are all unreliable narrators. You're just along for the ride as the story twists and unravels itself echoing the main theme of "memory is a monster" I LOVE IT, the pacing is perrfection
Lestat. That's all i wanna say.

Portrait of a Lady on Fire
I put this on randomly one day and was not disappointed, hell it rearranged my brain chemistry. What a painful and devastating depiction of queer romance
Came in completely blind, and was hooked but the concept of a painter painting a portrait of someone who didn't want to be painted. Pleasantly surprised to see it all wraps up as this beautiful story full of symbolism and parallels i couldn't catch in the first watch. And yes i will never not be completely wrecked by Every Eurydice and Orpheus reference
Honestly words can't describe how this movie made me feel

The last of us
The first season was such a service to the game, i remember getting prepared to be emotionally wrecked every episode and i did. What an amazing performance by both Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, they ARE Joel and Ellie (i will never understand people giving Bella hate).
The second season tho, what. happened. The costume design just broke the immersion for me because why are the zombies clean? hell why are all the characters spotless? The dialogue is just bad, pacing was off i honestly dropped the series 3 eps in, i might come back to finish it but tbh idk
Rating: Just watch the first season
Materialists
First impression, WOW Dakota's acting is bad, every line that is delivered in her monotone voice comes off so emotionless it almost put me off watching this movie.
Otherwise if you can pull through the rest of this movie, you can find characters that have no depth, no chemistry and that whole SA side plot feels like it was put there just as a minor inconvenience, they didn't really address it in anyway? Honestly, what a mess, i will give credit to Chris Evans performance, somehow he made the dialogue feel natural and was the reason i kept watching.
Rating: Horrible lack of Pedro screen time
My Oxford year
Worst acting performance i've seen this year, Sofia PLEASE make it less obvious that you're camera conscious af. The writing was god awful, dialogue was so corny it felt like watching a movie made 10 years ago, and those had charm. 20 mins in and i was already disappointed by one-dimensional characters and zero chemistry
Rating: Don't even bother
Me before you
I decided to give this a watch after the disaster show that is "My Oxford year" and since people were comparing it to "Me before you", also because my sister's been urging me to watch this
I think this deserves it place as a romcom classic. It's corny but acceptable in its time. Main girl's character is too focused on how quirky she is it gets to a point lol.
Plotwise, im gonna be a debby downer and say i feel like all this pain and agony will is causing louisa completely avoidable. Like hey man if you know you're gonna kys maybe don't actively participate in a romance with this girl and then decide to leave her and have the audacity to ask her to watch??? Also doesn't this paint a really depressing image for disabled people? also his parents should've hired a therapist or something not some random unqualified girl to take care and be friends with their son?? anyway great watch lmao
Rating: Yeah sure okay
The wind rises
I remember this being my favorite Ghibli movie as a kid. Im only revisiting it now that it's going to come out in theatres again where i live (YAY im excited) with a fresh pov and pretty much a blank memory lmao
Always gotta appreciate the beautifully animated scenes in Ghibli films, now that more AI slop is coming on i really have a higher level of respect for any animated work. I love picking apart how they draw things, and how they make every movement so lifelike and believable
Plotwise, i used to think the pacing was a bit too slow but looking at it now i think it really suits te introspective nature of the movie. It's a perfect blend of realism and the usual fantasy aspects of Ghibli
All in all, it's a beautifully made piece of art. Considering getting "Le vent se lève. Il faut tenter de vivre" tattooed on my body forever
